Eating Disorders  and The Faces of  Recovery
"Open your eyes. you are NOT made up from those words that hurt you. or that number on a scale. a scale can only give you a numerical reflection of your
relationship with gravity. thats it. it cannot measure beauty, talent,  purpose, life force, possibility, or love. You are NOT made up of the  expectations you
feel you will never meet, you are made up of nothing more  than you. Simply, uniquely, beautifully, wonderfully you. You are a lovely  and complex soul. An
individually fascinating combination of thoughts,  ideas, feelings, emotions. No other is as beautiful as you. Look past the  mirror & look at your soul. Only
then will you see yourself as you truly  are. Beautiful. So smile! and DON'T forget to love yourself. This week is  Eating Disorder Awareness Week "Everybody
Knows Somebody" ..whether you  struggle or you know someone who does..Love Yourself & remind others to  do the same. You are beautiful."
--written by "J" recovering from her eating disorder

Zero isn't a size!

Picture
Here's what happens when you realize zero isn't a size! Recently, one group member on the road to recovery brought in her "sick" jeans and each got a turn at cutting them into pieces--why have them around "just in case" you want your eating disorder again? No way!

Group exercise on flexibility

Picture
In this exercise, group members ranked 10 snack choices in order of preference, setting aside anxiety, body image concerns, and calorie worries. Next, members ranked snacks from "safe" to "unsafe." Then we discussed the similarities and differences in the snacks. The catch? Every snack choice had the same exact calories--250.
